He served in World War II as a tank crewman(39240366) in 748th Tank Battalion. He was in the invasion of Europe from the beach landing to Germany. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Eurpean African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. His discharge paper list his campaigns and battles as Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy, and Northern France. He received an honorable discharge as a Corporal, September 30 1945.

He had several jobs in his lifetime, supporting his son and two stepdaughters.

His last job resulted in his death. While driving an oilfield tanker truck, he pulled in front of a train he never saw. He and several people on the train were killed and many were injured.

Johnny will always be remembered, by his family, as kind and loving to his wife, stepdaughters, their husbands, grandchildren and his only son.
